The completed logos! Or at least I think they are. I just put in the last bit of feed back they had. 1 to make the spikes and teeth sharper for the flat version, and that I had forgotten to put the tail on top of the logo for the full version.
Came out a lot faster than I expected overall which I'm very grateful for in that I now can get back to my novella! :D

Had a short notice project come down from Dragon Shield today and I would feel really bad to have to turn them down after they've made my works into an entire line of product.
That and I really need the funds to put towards my move to a new apartment. I need to get out of this tuna can. here are 3 concepts I came up with tonight to give them a bit of choice. I believe I'll have to also do a fully rendered version as well with inks and color. Should still be a fairly quick job if they get their feedback back to me in a timely manner. I'm sort of torn between the first 2 myself, which one do you like better? Wound up having to take the night off due to how tired I've been, but then proceeded to spend the entire night adding the new novella page to my website. XD
I sadly can't show this one off in full till the Novella is ready to launch fully. But! For as little as $2 you can access all the illustrations early as a Copper Tier Patron! :D I really like how it came out overall. I know it's not quite as exciting a piece as some of the pages that will be included in the book but it my hope is that it helps to emphasize the atmosphere and danger of their situation. Now I need to decide, do I put out another novella page? or get some more work on the Shewolf Comic? Cast your votes to help me decide! :D And for sure tell me what you think overall. especially those of you who have had the chances to see the currently finished colored pages. I really need to set up some time to get back into the writing though. This was originally supposed to just be a small side project but its grown into being what will debut the series. Its sort of like how some Anime do it, where you start in the middle of the series to see how things will be in the thick of it before going back to the origins of each character. Where I hope to entice you with how the characters interact with one another and the level of dangers they have to deal with on a daily basis. That way my hope is that once we go back to the origins of the various characters that you have a taste of whats to come. along the way there will be side stories like this shewolf payset and the Chayse family that I want to get into as a means of better gearing up for the big push. Is a challenge trying to pin down what I want to do with the phantom in the background.
Normally I would have it glowing quite brightly but I don't want it to overpower the main figure, that and I want to avoid making it feel like shes staring at it directly. Its more a visual representation of her staring out into the void as she descends the ancient staircase. Got the flats all laid down, and have started working in the primary shadows.
Given the style of lantern the lighting on this piece has to be handled carefully. I want the phantom in the back to be nearly imperceptible just enough so to cause a creepy sense of unease. I really like the direction things are moving in though, still still be a lot of pushing and pulling to go but its off to a good start. I started roughing in some shadows last yesterday as I was winding down for the night and came to the realization that the placement of the leftmost knee is way off. I'll have to get that adjusted before moving forward.
Since so much of this page is supposed to be in darkness I'm suspecting that the colors should be fairly quick to knock out. The cast shadows however I can already tell are going to be quite the challenge to figure out, since her lantern will be the primary light source. ----------------- Story wise at some point she ends up dropping her lantern after a massive gust of wind forces her to hunker down to avoid being knocked off the stairs, its then that they realize the paranormal nature of this particular space when shortly after her lantern ends up cracking her upside the head when it lands on her from above. It's an encounter that would have more than likely had led to their deaths had they not been accompanied by an Necromancer Elite. At some point Standard starts to question why things have gotten so much harder to endure since they let Vampire Join up with them. ------------------ Also of note is that this is one of the rare times that Standard isn't accompanied by her banner. She left it with Orphan due to it not being a practical weapon to use in right quarters. She isn't unarmed though. Her over sized plate bracers each hold 3 Dirks sheathed on the underside. 2 each of Silver, Steel, and pioneer era Ceramic. Each having varying levels of effectiveness against the myriad of monsters that inhabit their world. Her main body is just about done now, just a couple more adjustments here or there I'll add in as I notice them.
Tomorrow the Wall and Stairs should be the last of the inks. I think with Phantom I'm debating if I should ink it the way I draw some other ghosts in the novella so far or if I should just make it more painterly and blending into the background. Will have to wait and see how things play out. Will be back tomorrow with more for sure though. ^ _^ The hardest parts are complete for the now inking wise. :D Last nights progress on the new novella page.
This piece takes place during a scene were the adults of the party have gone off to check for any potential dangerous inhabitants and or useful supplies. They discover a secret door in a wretched kitchen leading to a rusty set of stairs leading down into a black abyss. The space is many times larger than the cabin above, and theres a sense that their being watched by... something. If you love my work and really want to help lend your support consider becoming a patron today! Man poured several hours into this before taking a step back getting ready to save then realized i'd sucked all the flow of the pose right out of it! > .<
So had to go back and bring more of the angles and curves back to the piece. I'm not quite satisfied with how her head and face looks just yet. I'll take another stab at it tomorrow. I foresee that being the one part of this piece that resists me the whole time. The ghost in the background will be played out in such a way that it wont be obvious that its there. Or at least thats what I'm hoping to achieve. The idea is that its more a representation of the hatred the Monstress has towards the Crimson Dames for intruding into her echo chamber. I'm hoping this one wont take too long to knock out, just depends on how badly the pose for the head resists. XD What are your thoughts on it so far? |
