After taking a good long look at the newer versions of these 2 fighting I had done I realized a couple things about this pic.
1) Orphan didn't look nearly as big as she needed to compared to the newer works. and 2) That Standards pose was pretty boring. Doing large overhauls on already completed works can be a major pain given how many layers there are to work around. So instead of trying to fill in the holes of dozens of layers I decided that I'll just redo the backgrounds colors completely. Will save a lot of time overall, that and I'm thinking the colors should be brought more in line with the later pieces. A warmer light source than the original cold. Tell me what you think and if there's other aspects u wouldn't mind seeing me take another crack at while I'm at it. I'm considering shortening the fur on Orphan's shoulders too since that aspect evolved as I continued drawing her over a years time. Starting to feel like I'm never gonna be done with this product. I think though that once its all done that I'd like to crowd fund a hard cover book for those interested. Gotta research the best way to go about it. Seen some very nice crowd funded books that were very affordable. Oh yeah don't forget the roll for loot contest ends tomorrow. spread the word and help raise the reward pot. ^ o^ Put together this simple Shirt design using some of the avatars I created from my various Crimson Dames pieces up to this point.
Their having a sale over at Teepublic right now if ur interested in any of my designs. :p sadly the discount comes out of my cut of the profits where are abysmally small to begin with. = o= But its more important that my works are out in the wild getting noticed. ^ o^ They got sizes upward of 5XL and other various products. Check em out. ^ o6 Birthday Sketch Reward, i think I tend to go a bit overboard when the request involves one of my characters. > _>
Today ima get to work on redoing one of the novella pieces featuring Orphan. Will be putting Standard in a more dynamic pose, and scale her down so she better fits the difference is size the later illustrations have them at. Not sure if I should redo the colors for the background to be warmer the way they were for the later pieces. I guess early in i had the idea that the lanterns would provide a colder light till the fires got rolling. not so sure now tho. Finally complete!
Sorry it took so long with this one. Got it posted up on Teepublic and the Perilous Quest Gallery. I don't get much of a cut per sale but wearing my work in the wild helps to raise awareness of my works. ^ o^ I'll get the High Res Version posted soonish for patrons. I think I might try my hand at another quick design using some of the avatar crops I've made up to this point. Should be quick yet effective. Hopefully. Please help spread the word, I need all the help I can get! ^ o^ I think I should be able to get this finished up tonight,
Is finally coming together what its final form should look like. I still need to make some adjustments to the scrolls text and I just noticed the windows line weight feels off. Might end up giving the whole thing a much bolder outline for the final version that would go to print. not to late to get me feed back on issues you think need addressing. Don't worry if your skill level isn't what mine is, if something feels off speak your mind and help bring it to my attention to make it better. ^ _^ inks are pretty much done now and am adding the flats.
Will have to play around with the colors, If I make everything black it wont read very well on a shirt. Though my initial instinct is to keep everything with varying shades of charcoal, perhaps splashes of red. Tell me what you think so far. I need to adjust the left wings shroud a tad balance feels off. I used to offer monthly sketch rewards to patrons but at some point the workload started to drain my ability to focus on my main projects.
So now I offer the monthly "Roll For Loot" contest were upwards of 3 contestants can win a personalized sketch request. I also offer them as birthday gifts to members of the "Crimson Dames Discord Server" (Even to non Patrons) And sometimes I offer them up randomly as a gift to people I identify as being in dire need of a pick me up. To help offer something a bit more exciting for them to look forward to. Why I recommend that peeps join up with the server and participate. To help strengthen your network of peeps, and be kept in the know of interesting goings on. If or rather "When? my work starts to gain traction and eventually reaches critical mass, I'll open a secondary server to ensure that those earliest peeps who were there from the beginning will have their platform preserved before it becomes flooded with new peeps. To ensure my core fans have the strongest voice in influencing the growth of my works. ^ _^ Not every sketch may be my best work but they do help me to continue improving my penciling skills.
