I stayed up too late layering these flats in. I'm still contemplating if I shouldn't censor this piece in some way, but really the true version should be the version seen here.
I'll play up the lighting to make it look like they've been spotted by a flood light. The True Mermaid will have a brilliant glow about her, were the False will have more subdued glowy bits like a deep sea creature. I wonder how many have actually caught on that the True Mermaid only has 1 arm. Tell me what you all think so far and please help share them around the web and help improve the number of supporters available. ^ _^

Mnrrrg I really messed up my sleep schedule getting the inks and flats for this complete :\
Hehe, seeing a pick of the Monstress I designed for the novella I'm kind of imagining now what would happen if the 2 monsters met. I'm pretty sleepy at the moment tho so I must deactivate for the now. :p Tell me what you think so far though I'm eager to know. :D Most of the False Mermaid was completed today, should be able to finish up the inks tomorrow.
Need to put in some more details into the hair, some more scars here and there, perhaps some harpoons hanging out somewhere. Trying to think of what a good way to censor the dreaded teets that would bring down the entire piece. I'm still not too certain about the positioning of the False Mermaid's eyes just yet. Will likely change up the hair and arm position for the true mermaid some. Tell me what you think of them overall so far. ^ _^ Color wise the True mermaid will be a pale almost glowing white where the False Mermaid has a more bluish skin, will also add some glowy bits here and there. I'm thinking that I'll likely use multiple light sources like some sort of strobe light, as if their being monitored. and really play with the light and shadows. Please don't forget to share with others to help spread the word. ^ _ ~ Got a decent chunk of the way through the inks today. I'm really liking her wicked grin. I'll also be incorporating some creepy scaring from attacks and or experiments conducted before she became too much to handle, like that painful looking scar down her chest.
I need to decide on a way to censor the piece for non patrons. Not sure how I want to go about it tho just yet. Maybe some sort of mesh netting hanging from her body? One things for sure, don't put anything important near her mouth that your going to need back. XD Still waiting for references for the upcoming commercial projects I'll need to take on. I'm hoping I can get at least the inks complete before they get back with me. Please don't forget to like/fave and share the posts you love most. Been feeling rather ineffectual with my outreach lately so need an assist from peeps to get my following growing again. :\ Made some adjusments to the pencils before moving forward with the inks today. got the fills and barbs to work a bit better mainly, made the free hand look a bit more interesting, and adjusted the bangs some.
I felt like revisiting my old False Mermaid design as a way to see how far along I've come along. The original was one of the first 100% digital works of art I'd ever completed. I'll likely be changing up some of the details here and there before its all said and done. I'll work on this one off and on between the commercial projects that I need to start up this week.
The much smaller mermaid in the pic is a true mermaid, one whose blood has the power to heal injuries and sickness, extend lifespans, and provide immortality in large enough doses. She about 9 feet tall from head to tail tho basically human scaled. A lot of that length is in the tail. So you can imagine how big the false mermaid grew to be. Yes the true mermaid is missing an arm. XD Whether that was before her capture or after tho is yet to be determined. The false mermaid is highly protective of the true mermaid and kills anyone who tries to get near her. essentially ending the powers that be's attempts to harness her blood for their own benefit. Given that her bloods potency cant be reproduced via cultures they opted to try and clone her only to have the clone rapidly grow into a twisted abomination. Even beyond her intense strength as well as the cutting power of her claws and razor sharp teeth, shes capable of spitting a pressurized stream of water that's capable of cutting through even armored opponents with ease from a distance. They had to give up trying to destroy the false mermaid as any weapon with the strength to kill her would have surely have destroyed the far more fragile true mermaid who is never left very far. I did up a new header and divider element for the Kid and Dog page since that one has a different theme from the rest of the website. Structurally similar but thematically unique. ^ _^
I wasn't quite satisfied with the face of the original Bride, so I set it up to better show off her features. I like how it came out overall. Still about 6 or more pages or so to go, with a lot of edits to the past pages.
with the new page 001 this became the new 002 shifting all of the further pages down the row. I shifted some elements around redrew the thieves to reflect how their designs have advanced. And got some elements better spaced out to work with the dialog later.
