Became rather captivated by Midjourney recently (to put it lightly) and wound up spending a ton of time trying to learn its ins and outs trying to figure out how I can utilize these new tools in helping to speed up my work process. Sadly learned that Midjourney is highly restrictive with their censorship and seem to have no interest in making an uncensored variant. Got banned periodically several times already. Prompting me to upgrade my video card so I could get stable diffusion set up so I could learn to use that instead. Sadly Stable Diffusion prompt system isn't nearly as intuitive as Midjourney's set up is. MJ will work in some of its own style in fascinating ways that ensures you overwhelmingly get results close to what you wanted or wildly better. Allowing its users to make new discoveries for ideas and concepts they didn't even know they wanted. SD on the other hand, wont give you nearly so much if your not exceedingly specific with what you want. Positive accidents from what I've observed are much rarer and it takes a ton of work to get something even vaguely as good as MJ. But its local variant is free and uncensored. If you can figure out how to install it. Tons of guides on how to do so but they all seem to be uniquely bad in their own way. Will take someone with zero know how in this realm considerable effort to get the app running on your rig efficiently. While I've not yet created anything that I could call a finished product I've gotten many concepts created that has me dying to render them into a full illustration. Take this new illustration I'm working on. I had accidentally created these 2 haunting women in a forest with Midjourney so I decided to take 2 of the better ones I had found there to work into a new drawing. I had hoped it would help speed up the process, but its for the now a still rather plodding process for me. You can't trust the AI's sense of anatomy either so you have to know how to improve upon it when its ever so slightly off, or intensely so. Overall I'm deeply disappointed with both of these systems in different ways. But the tech is advancing so quickly that hopefully in a few months its much closer to what I need to make it sing. I also must apologize for not posting enough, the holidays, various appointments, and necessary computer upgrades have my slow output even slower of late. Hopefully I can get sped up once the new year roles in. Here are a few highlights I've come up with in the past weeks. Sadly I've not made anything in SD worth showing off in the slightest yet. and its been quite aggravating to me. They are all uniquely bad in their own ways, but also all great seeds of ideas to pick up and fly with. I wish I could more easily learn how to capture some more of this essence into my own style. For the now I'm experimenting with redrawing the elements I like most and combining them in unique original ways. I'll make a space at some point in the near future to show off more of these. For each of these decent ones I've made thousands of variants that aren't worth a dam. They've definitely helped to spark new ideas tho that will be getting implemented into my overall world of Crimson Dames. I especially love how these prompts can widely mutate causing some surprising results that with a bit of refining can be made into stunning new characters. This lovely for instance!!!

The wolfs anatomy keeps undergoing a number of changes, but I think its just about where it needs to be now. :p
Inks and Flats are complete and now beginning work on the shadow layer!
I really love this phase as its when the concept really starts to come to life. I went with more of a raven/crow color scheme to give it a more gothic feel. tho they surprisingly feel very vampire like now. ;D Yell me what you think so far or if there are any details you think are missing that would make it even better. Rilly excited to finish this one. Rilly starting to come together now!
Can't wait to see how this one turns out. Still trying to decide how I want their colors to be. Something like pale white skin with blood red feathers? Or maybe black like a ravens? What do you think? Started putting some work into the inks for this pic since it had been so long since penciling it.
I'm digging how its coming out so far. Will likely work on other stuff too while working on it. :p I got so much catching up to do tho. And so much to research concerning investment opportunities. More progress with the inks!
The main two figure's inks are just about done. still a ways to go tho. Always aggravating how slow the inking process is for me. .o , It's really starting to come to life now!!!
from right to left we got the base inks, the flat colors, and with the base shadow layers. Still lots of work to go but already am starting to get a good sense of how it will all come together. Colors will likely radically change along the way still as I balance things out. Wont be streaming till likely Monday night due to getting kidnapped for my 40th birthday! which is... TODAY! October 15th 1981! The same year that The Howling and American Werewolf were released! Coincidence??? So much work to do still that I worry if I can get this knocked out before Halloween, though none of my previous attempts at a major Halloween project were on time so why not this one too? XD I still need to do a more clothed variant for a general release and maybe to get some merch made too but will have to see how the time frame plays out and if it will damage the look of things to much. Would love to get your feed back on them all though. Which one is your favorite of the ladies featured? do they feel distinct enough from one another? Which of them might you want to see expanded upon as deeper characters for Crimson Dames? Gotta run for now, thanks so much for your continued support especially in these uncertain times, I can't even begin to show my appreciation to you all deeply enough as you deserve. ;D Man this ones been taking up so much time and I really have no idea why.
Am I letting too many things distract me on a daily basis?? Whatever the cause I really love how its coming out. I deeply apologize for the lack of new posts, but I have been plugging away at these projects diligently. I just feel that it wastes too much time posting each nights progress every night, especially if the average viewer can't really see the difference. So I had been waiting for better milestones to show off. :p Tell me though if you prefer seeing those progress reports. With September around the corner I really need to start thinking up what this years Halloween project will be. Should I add a couple spooky ladies to the Ladies of Halloween project? Or would peeps prefer more progress on The Shewolf Bride comic? (Now housed under "Projects". I really need to get back to the writing of the novella too. Man these swords took a lot longer to draw out than I had hoped.
Been fighting with sleep issues and being super lethargic, but it feels like I'm finally starting to break free of that hellish cycle. I'm starting to debate if I shouldn't change the banner so that it passes behind her rather than the front. Hrmm actually I think one of the swords needs to be moved down some too, doesn't feel quite right to me at the moment. I'm already getting the flat colors worked out and will be able to start figuring out the shadow layers very soon! Tell me what you think so far! Will be starting my daily stream soon, hope to see you there! https://picarto.tv/StudioAegis |
