The Monstress arises! Out to bring doom to all who dare desecrate her domain of evil. In her first corporeal body in over a millennia, now composed of plant matter, lies, and the bones of her previous victims. Her black heart beats for none save herself and she will not relinquish it to any mere vampire no mater their rank.
Her starting mass is massive, but as she grows sub bodies from the central core her overall scale becomes reduced. Her flesh has a grayish translucent appearance, it can exert a great amount of kinetic force though it isn't so difficult to cut through. As to what lovecraftian entity corrupted her body only I know for sure. It was a Lunar Octopus. . o .

Trying to come up with a candidate for the human form of the Werewolf Stalker, AKA Vampire's Big Bad Wolf.
Some okay contenders here, a few I might revisit for side characters down the road. Wow it took me so long to get this pose down properly, and even now I suspect it has major flaws I just haven't noticed yet.
overall though its a lot stronger than the previous version! Man my work load for these inks just keeps growing. Gonna need to carefully balance the time spent inking to avoid making people disinterested. Errg with each one of these I chose to redo the more I feel I need to be redoing others in the series. Y oY I need to be stopped! The rebirth of the Monstress to corporeal form! I need to do a recolor of the Arising Doom Piece, tho... I'm starting to contemplate that I should re pencil that on entirely to make it better match the current level of detail.
This one took a bit longer than I expected to get penciled up. Will take far longer to ink tho. . o ,
In this scene Vampire is getting ready to activate the tomb when Standard suddenly hears Orphan crying out from the structure above and bolts to save her from whatever threat might be out there. I had the idea that Prisoner might mention that "Hay these are Bloodshade Kudzu, their bad news for cemeteries and old peoples homes." "Well, don't hold it in your hand!" Today's progress on a new approach to this scene.
It needs to match the lower portion of the shrine that I illustrated already, but I should be able to get more experimental with the upper portion. Not sure if I shouldn't pull back even further with the shrine and vampire. I'm not sure either if I should make a space for Prisoner. Standard I'll keep closer to the front having her react to the screams of Orphan somewhere above. The scene also illustrates a bit of the power struggle between Vampire and Prisoner in that Vampire winds up having to sometimes follow Standards lead when the group is at risk. Despite her will to finish her business there. Standard could never directly challenge Vampires authority but if she just springs into action Vampire tends to have to follow along. Tho she cares nothing for the others she still has need of them and cant let them throw their lives away frivolously. Is shaping up to a much stronger piece overall. This is one of the benefits to doing all the pencil work first, that I can review the pencils well before jumping into the inking stage and can any ideas I feel are lacking. Where before I might have barreled forth without noticing glaring mistakes. I'm not sure if I should put one of the Dames into this piece for scale Tho it does show up again later in "The Pit" scene.
The tendrils surrounding it are mainly plant based, the fluid oozing out of it are... troubling. I'd theorized that its occupant likely has become corrupted by a some sort of lovecraftian entity and thus sealed away to prevent its corrupted blood from spreading. Though that would make me question if it has any possibility of infecting the party. Maybe light exposure is okay given how dormant its been. XD Its form represents the nature of its contents. |
