Did up the clothing for a censored version, also adjusted the werewolf's fur a bit and added a bit of jewelry on the shewolf to add more to the Gothic feel to the piece. Tell me what you think! :D
Phewa, finally finished this one up.
Feels like it might be missing something still, but I'll let the Art Director and his people decide what they need adjusted.
Final invoice has been sent out so I should be free for the next day or so till they get back to me.
Was considering doing a Crimson Dames related illustration.
Perhaps something that could serve as a poster or shirt. that or just a moody transformation scene? Not sure yet. That or just jump right into finishing up a new illustration for the novella.
I really need to get back to finishing writing it too. Its been a sort of by the seat of my pants sort of project so far but doing up a few illustrations in advance helped to inform the writing, which in turn helped to inform further illustrations.
Can't wait to get a solid product out there for the world to see. Then once the novella and comic are complete I'll probably start the prolog story with the chayse family and the wraparound vampire segment.
First of the month is coming up soon. I implore my current patrons to please consider swapping over from Deviant art to the paypal subscriptions. Links in the footer below!
Would really help me to further push what I can accomplish with your support. ^ _^
In the meanwhile please tell me about what you'd like to see next out of me.
Worked in the skyline for a baseline, will likely not be the final version.
The finished version will have the shield activating with power giving a glowing/sparkling effect to his armor and such.
I predict it will be quite the challenge to capture.
Hopefully it doesn't drag on for too long though. Really wanting to get back to my own projects already. TT oTT
I went ahead with a significant redo for the armor to better match a reference I was given. While its still completely different its at least a bit more spiritually thematic than what I had before.
Will be trying to achieve a pearlescant sheen on the main figures for this one. A color I haven't had the best luck in recreating in the past, but hopefully I can figure it out this time around. ^ _^
I'll work in some moody storm clouds in the background and mebe add a few more angry dragon pursuers.
Phewa I think this one is just about done. I'll have to wait to see what the art director requests edit wise. In the meanwhile will try to knock out the second pic as quickly as possible.
Can't wait to get back to my own projects.
Tell me what you think of it overall. ^ _^
I've been experimenting with the color balance and blend modes to see what color layout works best to bring the right feel to the overall piece.
It felt like the dragon being a reddish/orange color was causing its form to bleed into the main character's silhouette a bit too much so I tried desaturating the dragon to match the background a bit more. and seperate them out.
I'm starting to work in the secondary lighting sources now.
I'll break up the red with more oranges as it continues to progress for that rusted blood look.
slowly but surely making it there though.
Had to do a major adjustment on the shield today, and made some major adjustments on the colors. I'm not quite feeling the face now that it has some color on it. I'll probably redraw that tomorrow. Still a lot of work to go on the shadows and lighting. Color balance still feels off. But its getting there. I suspect 2 more nights of work for this piece.
Got the Flats in so am now working in some of the light sources to better inform the positions of the shadows. I'm hoping to be able to get it completed by tomorrow though I suspect I'll need more back and forth with the art director to really get the colors where they work for them.
I liked the idea of utilizing a half body sewing mannequin to create something not quite standardized among monster types. A phantom like Banshee felt like a good direction to go.
This could be a fairly easy design to render too.
I'd would probably use a wire mesh for the head to give it the right shape but keep it hollow space. Some glowing lights inside for that jawa eye effect. For the cloak I'd like to utilize something thats reminiscent of human skin to up the creep factor.
The voice would be something I'd want to set up in such a way that the entire space is utilized for a 3D effect where it feels like its echoing from all over.
I didn't have a clear idea when I started this one but before long the idea of the Hecatoncheires came to mind and the concept continued to develop from there.
Given the scale of this creature I don't think that it would be practical to render it in physical form. But perhaps this one would be best suited for 3D projection mapping.
Do up a 3D animated model and make it feel like its inhabiting a space much larger than the actual proportions of the room. then later in the path should it collapse or be defeated could render a portion of the creature in physical form to give patrons a sense of its size.
I especially want to use 3D projection mapping to make the space feel much larger than it actually is. Then couple that with some 3D soundscapes and perhaps even smells.
I tend to not see or rather not hear of haunts utilizing scents to bring their creations to a new level. I'm not sure if there are effective ways to produce some of the creepier scents out there without needing to actually have stuff like rotted meat or blood about. Also would like to avoid having to clean up vomit. xD
This abomination would be part of the 4th stage of haunted mannequins, were some form of inter dimensional creatures have crossed over into our realm though requiring an already existing body in order to inhabit this world in corporeal form.
Thinking about it now, if the mad artists creating these mannequins started using actual humans as a base it would stand to reason that these abominations are organic only because there was organic materials to utilize within.
And those mannequins that didn't have organic components became something more phantasmal in nature.
Wasn't quite sure what I wanted to go with for this one initially but towards the end it all started to click together.
There are 4 primary phases to how these mannequins will progress in the haunt.
"Normal" = where things seem somewhat normal but the early stages of the haunt are apparent. The mannequins from this point are the ones from when the creator was trying his best to capture the most ideal human forms.
Deconstruction = Where the master having become frustrated with his own sense of inadequacy started to destroy all of his creations violently, perhaps at some point loosing his ability to tell his creations apart from the staff working within his manor and dragging them into the violence.
Experimentation = The point where the creator started adding animalistic features to his creations seeking some new form of inspiration to be his muse, at some point using human bases to speed up the process.
The Arcane = the point were his experimentations with science/magic cross the threshold and give physical form to demonic entities from some other plane of existence. loosing a new form of abomination into the world.
This particular one would come from the deconstruction period. Where more of the haunted/possessed mannequins come from.
Almost finished a second mannequin today, it still needs some cleaning up tho will finish it up tomorrow, a stage 4 abomination. :D
New Haunted Mannequin concept! I tried to keep the concept to parts that might normally be available to a mannequin. I wonder now what some creative uses of a Sphynx theme could be in a haunted house?
Like what sort of riddle might she provide and how to reward beating the riddle? With candy? or maybe access to an additional path in the haunt? Hrmm much to think about.
I think simple animatronics might be best to render this creature, given how it might be more difficult to put a person in there. though if its larger than normal maybe could open up some unique options to raise the creep factor.
Phewa inks are complete for the time being, pending approval from the art director. Flats have a bit of a ways to go still.
The shield is supposed to be a rust coppery color, so I'll probably be using that as the foundation to base the other colors on.
I'll probably start up something new for myself for the weekend Crimson Dames related. Not sure what yet though. I'm leaning towards an illustration showing a woman turning into a shewolf caught unawares in the middle of the process.
I'd like something that especially plays up the eyes and sheen on the body. That or mebe just spend the weekend sketching out the lead Crimson Dames characters and better exploring how to render their outfits.
What would you prefer to see??
Inks are coming along for Emperor Scion!
I didn't quite get as much done as I wanted due to having to go grocery shopping today.
Which is an all day affair for me due to not having a vehicle.
I have a sturdy luggage rack that I drag along with an old Amazon Food box and bring back as much as I can carry crossed as well as how thick (or Thin) the wallet is for that week.
I tend to feel like I'm playing a game of Organ Trail. Go out hunting and and shoot 800 pounds worth of food but could only carry back 200 pounds. XD
Inking progress for Lane!
I changed up his expresion some to get it a bit more interesting.
Shield's persepctive is gonna be an annoyance to finish up.
Still need to put in some more details into the dragon here and there as well.
Current progress for the vid.
I started dropping in some simple sounds clips in to help inspire where to go next.
I wont be able to have them all the same pace and have this many pics in there.
I'll likely start to focus in on a few key pieces to give more focus to and let the smaller ones speed up or slow down based on how the beat changes.
I'm wondering if I should try including some of the other silhouettes of the Crimson Dames in the same style to show more images at once, or if that would be too distracting.
As a rough concept its coming along, but there still isn't quite that hook yet. I'll need to find an ideal piece of music to bring it all together and help me
In the end I suspect I'll be stripping out some of the pics to let it focus a bit more on the Crimson Dames stuff.
Tell me what you think so far and if u have any ideas you think could spark some inspiration.
Oh yeah please don't forget It would really help me out a ton if those of you are are my patrons could switch over to using my in site set up. Would seriously save me like an additional 50 dollars a month, which would help me big time with off setting the costs of my Adobe subscriptions for these programs.
Oh yeah and if u decide to switch over inform me that you are and I'll send u back your first payment after subscribing that way you wont be getting double charged. ^ o^
Last nights progress on the new novella page.
This piece takes place during a scene were the adults of the party have gone off to check for any potential dangerous inhabitants and or useful supplies.
They discover a secret door in a wretched kitchen leading to a rusty set of stairs leading down into a black abyss. The space is many times larger than the cabin above, and theres a sense that their being watched by... something.
Now equipped with a fresh take on my logo I went ahead and upgraded my Adobe Cloud account to be able to have After Effects and Premier Pro. Actually I had to go with the full version (50 a month) so now have access to all of their programs.
So what we have here is an initial sort of rough draft on the concept I was thinking about making as a sort of trailer for the site and generally get peeps more aware of my work and the ways they can support it.
I need to get some music to edit the vid to which will allow me to better plan out the beats and timing. Might look for some public domain static to work in with the images. Towards the end it'll fade out into the full version of the logo, and probably some links to were u can find the page and credit any other creators whose content I end up needing.
Tell me what you think or if you had any ideas that you think would look cool with it all.
Refined pencils for Emperor Scion. Both Pieces have been approved for inking now.
Moved the shield to his other hand after peeps in the stream helped me come to the realization that it looked like a lefties shield. XD
I predict this one will still be the more difficult of the 2 to ink but It's been simplified some so hopefully things go smoothly enough.
