I hadn't started a new contest for this month yet due to already having a lot on my plate with trying to get this latest illustration complete, and the queues are actually pretty thick with reservations that peeps hadn't filled out yet.
So I was using the time to experiment with some sketches for myself as warm ups before I got back to the coloring of the main project this month.
One thing these sketches revealed to me is that I still got so much to learn concerning anatomy. XD But its the sort of thing that the more you know the more you understand how much you still don't know.
I really like how some of these came out tho. I'm really torn between wanting to have my shewolves have those long spindly fingers with daggers for claws, that or the design thats closer to a paw, be it bear or wolf. Both have their strong points and difficulties in drawing regularly.
I tend to find myself drawing the same hand poses a bit too often tho. I need to research some alternate angles to experiment with. maybe that will be the next streams warm up just filling a page with claws, hands, and paws.
Which of these did you like most? Don't forget if you have a sketch reserved in the queue to think up what you would like.
While the guidelines are fairly lose on what you can request, be sure to remember that affording the artist more more creative freedom will tend to net you better results, and also take into account the subject matter I most enjoy drawing. :p
Almost forgot, don't forget that I recently reinstated accepting membership payments with Minds Tokens.
For a good while it started to seem like it was a worthless process that only made money for the crypto companies, but recently I learned how to properly cash them out for real money, well relatively speaking.
So if you hadn't given minds.com a try you really should consider giving it a whirl. More and more artist there are starting to accept them as a form of commission or payment for goods.
You can use my referral link to sign up.
Its a social site that works to preserve freedom of speech, and while sometimes that means having to see some stuff u might find offensive or incredibly stupid, it ensures dialogs remain open were we can encounter new ideas or contrary talking points other channels like twitter or facebook actively work to suppress.
gotta take the good with the bad sometimes. The site still has some growing pains to work out, they lack some features I'd really like to see, and they got a major problem with bot accounts trying to farm up extra revenue,
But overall the set up has made for a much more wholesome group of people who can be fun to converse with if not outright enlightening to be around. I rarely use facebook or twitter anymore because It just serves to infuriate me anymore.
Give it a try tho and see what you can accomplish, cultivate the following/feed you want. ^_ ^
Some rough sketches I made between bouts of coloring recently.
I tend to get rather single minded about whatever task I'm working on where my art is concerned.
Swapping between penciling, inking, coloring, or cropping/resizing is irritating due to having to start the process over of finding the grove again of whatever phase I was on.
The unfortunate result, if left unchecked tho, is that I could go weeks without penciling.
So I'm trying to force myself to to some sketches for practice while my sketch queue is empty.
Its currently not empty but people seem to be sitting on their reservations a lot more lately, not sure why tho. :\
Gotta think up a cool project for October too, to preferably be completed in not November. XD
Will use these sketches as brain storming to see what floats to the top.
Man this ones been taking up so much time and I really have no idea why.
Am I letting too many things distract me on a daily basis??
Whatever the cause I really love how its coming out.
I deeply apologize for the lack of new posts, but I have been plugging away at these projects diligently.
I just feel that it wastes too much time posting each nights progress every night, especially if the average viewer can't really see the difference.
So I had been waiting for better milestones to show off. :p
Tell me though if you prefer seeing those progress reports.
With September around the corner I really need to start thinking up what this years Halloween project will be.
Should I add a couple spooky ladies to the Ladies of Halloween project? Or would peeps prefer more progress on The Shewolf Bride comic? (Now housed under "Projects".
I really need to get back to the writing of the novella too.
Between sketches, overhauling the website, and other activities, I found new information much better explaining how to convert Minds.com tokens into Etherium And then being able to cash that out into "real" Money!
Unfortunately it costs a hefty fee to do so, around 200 dollars ish, give or take depending on the markets and such. BUT I had enough tokens saved up over this past year to make about 1500 dollars!
Really not a super significant sum, but at the same time more than I have to work with in a given month. Helped to give me a better cushion on my credit card and hopefully I can invest a bit of it into my Studio.
I recently purchased a years worth of Restream.IO despite my not really having wanted to, (about 200 dollars) but it will let me stream to both Picarto and Piczel at the same time.
Seems they have a means to combine chat feeds too now. So hopefully if I got it all working correctly I'll be able to see the chats of Dsicord, Piczel and Picarto all at the same time.
Is costly adding 2 more subscriptions to my monthly debt tho. but if it helps me to reach a wider range of people then hopefully I'll be able to recoup it soon enough.
Now that tokens no longer feel like Funny Money to me I'll be throwing a lot more effort there into building my following.
I'll look into allowing people to become patrons through Minds for tokens and perhaps even allowing people to occasionally purchase a sketch via tokens as well.
The value of the tokens is about 3$ per at the moment, so if u had been sitting on the fence before I recommend trying it out. Cultivate a feed you can enjoy find more artists to support, and add your own voice to the community.
I'll peeps out where I can to reach more people too. ^_ ^
Oh yeah as for the sketch We have another spooky mannequin today. Another with too many legs. XD
I imagine this would be really fun to see animated chasing people around. Flipping upside down as it pleases to give chase.
While overhauling the website I noticed that I had a few too many empty slots in the Mannequin section under "Concept Art". So I thought I'd remedy that a tad. :p
