Refined pencils for Emperor Scion. Both Pieces have been approved for inking now.
Moved the shield to his other hand after peeps in the stream helped me come to the realization that it looked like a lefties shield. XD
I predict this one will still be the more difficult of the 2 to ink but It's been simplified some so hopefully things go smoothly enough.
The Fief Lord Revealed, impressed with what a good girl his Shewolf has been.
I'm leaning towards the Lord falling into the role of Gold Wolf, one of the Four lords, among the Fang. His power will be added to the pack where he himself will gain his lycanthropy via his new bride.
This page still wasn't sitting well with me. Beefed up the look of ferocity of her close up, Tilted the panel border to make her feel less claustrophobic. and re positioned the victim so that the action reads a bit better.
Did another set of Sketch Draw Overs to give peeps a better idea of what you might get after submitting your own sketches.
Don't forget that Gold Tier Patrons get 2 Draw Over Requests per month staring this month!
Submit your requests today via the Wolf Pack Queue in the Crimson Dames Discord!
Not an artist? Thats okay you can offer it to someone who you think would appreciate. ^ _^
Take 2 for Emperor Scion, Got feedback already, wasn't quite what they were looking for yet so will try a new take tomorrow.
Wasn't digging the second panel, anatomy was too off and kind of doubling up on the anticipation. I think this works better, tho i think the eyes aren't scary enough just yet. Not sure if the body of the second thief makes sense yet too. Tell me what you think. :0
I decided to experiment with doing draw overs of sketches provided to me by Peffy, a patron who has gone above and beyond with his support.
I managed to knock out 3 in about an hours time so I think it goes quickly enough that I'll be able to start offering this to all gold tier Patrons. I think I'll experiment with 2 per month.
This will be a perk that will greatly benefit aspiring artists as well as myself in that it will help to re enforce key lessons I might be going slack on.
I'll go ahead and open it up starting today. Gold Tier Patrons will be allowed to submit 2 sketches to the WolfPack Queue and In the Crimson Dames Discord Server.
If your a Gold Tier Patron and don't draw, you can submit works from a friend who you think would be able to benefit from the process and would appreciate it.
Second head meats with physics, as a 4th character is introduced!
A familiar scent snaps her out of her blood lust.
Hrmm I hadn't intended on this guy being anyone of major importance to the wider story line of Crimson Dames that I have planned. Though now I'm thinking.
I do have a few roles that haven't been fleshed out or designed yet.
And if our gal here was a gift from the fang for services rendered, then perhaps it might be ideal if our Fief Lord here is developed into one of the 4 generals of the Fang.
White and Black are fulfilled already. So I'm leaning toward blue or brown wolf.
Though those names don't really evoke any sort of danger. What if I go with Timber for brown. and ... hrmmm.
With Blue Wolf I guess I was leaning more towards a different shade of black. Really isnt working tho.
hrmm yeah looking up pics now I think gold will work better.
Timber will be a more typical shade of brown with gold wolf being more of a light toasted brown.
White, Black, Timber, and Gold. Or should White be silver or gray? X0
Tell me what you think, and what you think of the progress thus far. do any of the panels feel particularly off to you? I know i keep sliding off model for the shewolf, which pages do u think I really need to take a second look at? Does anyone read these posts?? ._ .
Shifted some elements around to make more space and simplified the first panel. Also changed up that one panel that just looked... wrong. XD
I'll work in a grisly sound effect into the background for the severed head scene. But I'm not the best at text so I'll likely be playing with fonts to come up with something that looks a bit better.
I do like how the second thief turned out who is literally trying to escape the comic at this point XD
Todays progress with refining the pencils for Lance Thunderhoof. Not sure about his expression just yet, might add in the dragons tail in the background too later.
Was looking at these 2 pages and realized that the final panel of 18 and the first of 19 just didn't gel right, and since they were both somewhat similar I opted to keep the one that fed best into the next page.
I might still want to adjust the 4th panel on page 18, it still doesn't quite feel right yet.
I think maybe 2-3 more pages and a cover and things should be ready to start inking/refining.
Hrmm need to think about how to design her master/groom now. If I make him too cool people will expect to see him more down the line, but not cool enough and it might not be as satisfying a finish. :p
Tell me what u think though, and by all means point out what u think looks stupid and that I need to fix, just be classy about it. XD
Next take on the Lane Thunderhoof sketch.
I felt that the dragon was eating up too much space for the original take so attempted to a version that was zoomed in closer.
Will see what the Art Director decides they like best.
Tomorrow will work more on Scion while waiting for feedback.
Finally getting started on these 2. The first set of sketches is proving to be quite the challenge for finding the right balance between the 3 main figures each of which pulls focus away from the other.
The more of the dragon I show the smaller the riders presence, were as there's only so many poses I can use where that tower shield isn't covering up most of his body.
The next of the emperors throne came together much quicker, but will conversely be the harder of the 2 to ink. T oT
Will see what suggestions the Art director provides before moving forward.
Got a decent chunk of the way through the inks today. I'm really liking her wicked grin. I'll also be incorporating some creepy scaring from attacks and or experiments conducted before she became too much to handle, like that painful looking scar down her chest.
I need to decide on a way to censor the piece for non patrons. Not sure how I want to go about it tho just yet. Maybe some sort of mesh netting hanging from her body?
One things for sure, don't put anything important near her mouth that your going to need back. XD
Still waiting for references for the upcoming commercial projects I'll need to take on. I'm hoping I can get at least the inks complete before they get back with me.
Please don't forget to like/fave and share the posts you love most. Been feeling rather ineffectual with my outreach lately so need an assist from peeps to get my following growing again. :\
Made some adjusments to the pencils before moving forward with the inks today. got the fills and barbs to work a bit better mainly, made the free hand look a bit more interesting, and adjusted the bangs some.
I felt like revisiting my old False Mermaid design as a way to see how far along I've come along. The original was one of the first 100% digital works of art I'd ever completed. I'll likely be changing up some of the details here and there before its all said and done. I'll work on this one off and on between the commercial projects that I need to start up this week.
The much smaller mermaid in the pic is a true mermaid, one whose blood has the power to heal injuries and sickness, extend lifespans, and provide immortality in large enough doses.
She about 9 feet tall from head to tail tho basically human scaled. A lot of that length is in the tail. So you can imagine how big the false mermaid grew to be.
Yes the true mermaid is missing an arm. XD Whether that was before her capture or after tho is yet to be determined. The false mermaid is highly protective of the true mermaid and kills anyone who tries to get near her. essentially ending the powers that be's attempts to harness her blood for their own benefit.
Given that her bloods potency cant be reproduced via cultures they opted to try and clone her only to have the clone rapidly grow into a twisted abomination. Even beyond her intense strength as well as the cutting power of her claws and razor sharp teeth, shes capable of spitting a pressurized stream of water that's capable of cutting through even armored opponents with ease from a distance.
They had to give up trying to destroy the false mermaid as any weapon with the strength to kill her would have surely have destroyed the far more fragile true mermaid who is never left very far.
I wasn't quite satisfied with the face of the original Bride, so I set it up to better show off her features. I like how it came out overall. Still about 6 or more pages or so to go, with a lot of edits to the past pages.
Given how the scale of the interior had grown I needed to to redo the outside to suit it. Perspective like usual is a major challenge for me, but I think overall that this came out a lot stronger.
This route allowed me to better establish the 2 thieves and will allow me the space to get across their plan to clean the joint of its valuables.
