This piece really illustrates well that you should never be too married to your designs where illustration is concerned.
I've completely redone this particular moment in the novella several times now even from a fully colored piece. And I do not regret having done so in the slightest. These pencils are several magnitudes stronger than the original piece I was going to use. It will make the end product much stronger, and I get to still share the originals to peeps and make them work in my favor by attracting new peeps to my works. I'm debating still just how much of Standard should be in this piece, whether the current scale is good or if i should shrink her down a tad. as this is a mid point in the transformation Orphan still has about multipliers of mass to go through. before she reaches the point seen in some of the later pics currently available for Early Access to Copper Tier Patrons and up. ^ _^ Don't Forget that the Roll For Loot Contest ends tomorrow, everyone is waiting with baited breath to see if anyone will boost the reward pot. Sadly I've only lost patrons this week. Y oY

Redrew the new page for the start of Orphan's transformation. And started up a new version for the mid sequence. I like the pose but the angle isn't quite working just yet.
I had mocked in the door to see what it would look like tho its not quite working yet. I think I'll experiment with instead of a door that its the floor and perhaps Standard is standing over here trying to decide what to do before she runs out of time. She's left having to contemplate killing her if there's no sound way to subdue her before she fully turns. Standard too is quite experienced with how to fight werewolves at this point in the story line. I got the cut content posted up to the Crimson Dames Gallery, as well as posted the High Res Files to the Copper Tier High Rest pages. I'll have to adjust the Novella galleries later. since some of those pages will need to go. I wanted to tweak the final form of Orphan just a tad more before posting it up as I noticed some details that needed just a slight adjustment shading wise. Don't forget the Roll for Loot contest ends this Saturday, and we haven't had any boosts. :0 Which is quite the shame as its as little as $2 to up the reward pots. :\ I started inking the expanded body for this original designs and am really digging the power that curve in the back is adding to the overall piece. Though looking at what I penciled up yesterday for the other phases of the transformation I'm not really feeling them anymore. I think I can salvage the face and hair for the first but pic of Orphan but the body's elongated form doesn't feel as interesting as I hoped it would yet. Then the second pic I did feels like its not working at all so I'll seek out something with more of the energy that this expanded 3rd piece has. Tell me what you think though and don't forget the "Roll for Loot Contest" is live! Jump on in there and cast dem bones. And don't forget to spread the word as each new patron or upped pledge will boost the pot. I would love to have the problem of having to draw 50 sketches due to an addition of 50 patrons. XD The second image here also feels too close to the final form. an issue I'm always struggling with.
So thats the plan for the now. Actually I do still like the third pic of the sequence alot. So I was thinking that I'd take it and convert it to a full page piece, extend the visible image to more of the body so its filling the entire page.
Was thinking of doing a pic too where we see Orphan early on cowering behind Standard all timid and small. To let people have a better sense of just how massive orphan becomes. She looks scrawny in this sketch tho because her bones are lengthening and the muscles havnt quite caught up yet the way they will in the pic where Standard is trying to pin her down. Will probably take me the rest of the month to do this but will also help with attracting new peeps and in the end make this sequence of events look a lot stronger, since this is really where the money will be for the target audience. I also want to touch up some of the other existing pages still by changing up the color pallets of some to match other newer pages, and to do 3 full pages of Standard Orphan and Vampire struggling against tendrils. Oh yeah I also did want to redo the page where Orphan mentally awakens while in wolf form. Very soon here too I need to get back to the actual writing to integrate the new ideas these images have given me as well as have time to draw up any new good ideas I get from the writing process. I'll have to set aside days tho where I'm just writing and not streaming as it takes a lot more concentration for me to get in the grove with writing compared to drawing. Is a completely different set of creative muscles. Tell me what you think tho, its very important to me that peeps are able to get their input on how this project is developing. ^ _^ Draw Over for Peffy!
I drew over his original sketch using it as a guideline for the overall concept. Came out much better than I expected. Add some more defined musculature, a more dynamic pose for the spine and tail. a few additional details adjusted the proportions a bit. |
